Rok Zalokar is a pianist and composer from Slovenia, currently living and studying in Rotterdam. His trio plays original compositions with strong emphasis on mood and it’s development, spiced up with improvisation.
The debut record album “Vol. 1” was released in June 2013 on label ZARŠ. In 2014 Rok received Jazzon composition award. Trio continued to develop it’s sound and released “Vol. 2” in July 2016.
Now a new & exciting musical direction is taking place. It’s becoming more about concepts that can take the music out into the imaginary. This sonic journey is inspired by poems, indian rhythms, choral singing & much more.
Last year has been very successful for the trio – winning the Erasmus jazz prize and last summer they got a chance to play at the North Sea Jazz festival.
